I invite all those interested in Merino Sheep to attend the AWI 7th World Merino Conference in Perth and regional Western Australia in July 2006.
The theme of the conference is “The Future is Now”. It is time to embrace our industry and drive it into the future. With this in mind we have invited a wide spectrum of speakers to cover the big issues.
The coming together of the merino industry to stage the best ever merino conference has been a highlight of the planning. There has been unprecedented financial support from industry bodies and associated commercial companies, together with the valuable cooperation of the Department of Agriculture of Western Australia. The enthusiasm and encouragement of the various merino associations, nationally and internationally, has been very rewarding and the Organising committee thanks them all. The Department of Agriculture of Western Australia and the Australian Association of Animal Production are running their conferences parallel at the same venue so our delegates can participate in their scientific sessions.
We are delighted to share with you the Pre Conference Tour Programme which will present our best merino sheep while showcasing our spectacular venues and regional food and wines. Join us to visit Western Australia’s premier Sheep Show and Export Sale at Katanning.
Our stimulating conference Programme commences with Merino Innovation Day being held in the picturesque Swan Valley. This will be an interactive spectacle of the very latest innovation and industry products. The conference will then move to the impressive surroundings of the award winning Burswood International Resort situated on the Swan River.
We are excited that our Programme will combine a blend of inspirational, motivational, scientific and innovative speakers - a conference of excellence for all generations.

AWI 7th World Merino Conference
It is with a great deal of enthusiasm that I commend the full and part pre-conference tours in conjunction with the AWI 7th World Merino Conference. The Organising committee has surpassed its aim of pleasing all visitors and has ensured there is something for everybody. The latest innovations and sheep industry services and products will be interactively presented. High profile speakers will demonstrate convincingly that there is a strong future for wool and meat Merinos worldwide. This, when combined with a tour of Western Australia’s main sheep producing areas and some of its most spectacular natural attractions, makes for a magnificent event that will long be remembered.
I encourage as many people as possible to attend. I am looking forward to seeing old acquaintances as well as making friends anew.
