Merino Innovation Day
Wednesday 12th July 2006, 9.00am – 3:00 pm
‘The Grange – Upper Swan’
Merino Innovation Day is the ultimate pre-curser to the most significant Merino Industry event that this country has seen – the AWI 7th World Merino Conference.
Thanks to the generosity of ‘The Grange – Upper Swan’ Merino Stud principal John Roberts, Merino Innovation Day will be staged on his historic Swan Valley property, ‘Egerton’, on Wednesday, July 12th, 2006.
Merino Innovation Day has a single, overwhelming purpose: To mount a visual, interactive mega display that captures the innovation that is both here (already commercialised) and in the future (still at development stage), that will take the Merino into its next decade of profitability with renewed vigour.
As the theme of the World Conference so aptly states – The Future is Now – and Innovation Day will provide testimony to that.
Commercial Trade Displays
An essential component of Merino Innovation Day is the opportunity for companies providing goods and services to the Merino industry and associated entities, to put their products on display and take advantage of what we believe will be virtually the entire delegation to the AWI 7th World Merino Conference, together with members of the general public.
Commercial trade display space will comprise: 3m x 3m individual tent sites or 3m x 2m booth areas, located within the complex and allocated on a first come, first served basis. 6m x 6m display sites, suitable for small equipment displays
All site space is bare and priced at $880 per site and requires the exhibitor to hire all additionals, including tents if required, power, lighting, backing display boards, trestles, chairs. All entities with a connection to the Merino industry are invited to attend. The only restriction we face is that we cannot permit any livestock to be taken onto the property.

Innovation Platforms Presentations
An invitation is extended to the sheep, meat and wool research, science and innovation community, along all parts of the production chain, from farm to fashion, to put forward a proposal to present an Innovation Platform Presentation at Innovation Day.
Preference will be given to proposals that include material that has not previously been presented at an industry level and thus will be genuinely considered by the visiting public to be innovative - which to quote www.dictionary.com can be described as "being or producing something like nothing done or experienced or created before".
We recommend that interested presenters ensure they can offer a strong 'interactive' component and feature a combination of demonstration as well as verbal presentation. Proposals must be able to demonstrate that there is no direct commercial benefit to be gained from presenting at Innovation Day.
Innovation Platform Presentation proposals need to be lodged with the Innovation Day committee by February 28, 2006, with successful proposals to be announced for programming within four weeks of that date. Proposals not selected for the purpose of Innovation Platforms will in most instances be invited to mount a presentation, however the presentation will form part of the commercial trade display.
