General Information

Arriving In Perth

Perth’s international and domestic airports are located 16 km and 11 km respectively north east of the CBD. Shuttle buses, hire cares and taxis operate between the airports and Perth city. As a general guide taxi charges from the international and domestic airports are:

Perth - between AUD$18 to $25
Burswood - between AUD$16 to $20

Taxi ranks are outside both the domestic and the international terminals.

Climate

July is mid winter in Western Australia, with average temperatures for Perth, ranging from 8° - 18° Celsius (46° - 64° Fahrenheit).

Time

Perth is on the same time zone as Singapore and Hong Kong and in July, is two hours behind Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Dress Standards

During the Pre-Conference Tour, we suggest delegates wear comfortable warm clothing. Smart casual wear will be suitable for all occasions. During the week of the Conference we suggest delegates wear, smart casual clothing. For the Official Opening & Welcome Function and The Elder ‘Cut Out’ dinner, we recommend wearing warm comfortable clothes. For the AWI Gala Dinner we recommend a lounge suit/cocktail attire.

The Venue

Burswood International Resort
The Convention Centre at Burswood International Resort has been selected to host the AWI 7th World Merino Conference. Nestled on the banks of the Swan River in Perth, Burswood International Resort is one of the world’s most spectacular resort developments. Located only 10 minutes from the domestic and international airports and a short five minutes drive from the city, Burswood is surrounded by 113 hectares of superbly landscaped gardens and parklands.

Parking

Undercover parking at the venue is charged at AUD$3.00 per hour to a maximum of AUD$12.00 per day. All-day free parking is available at the Burswood Dome (adjacent to the Convention Centre).

Monitored Parking bays are also available on site. The current rates are $1.20 per hour to a maximum of $6.00 for a 24 hour period.

Alternative Transport

Burswood train station is only a 5-minute ride from the city of Perth. Burswood provides a free shuttle bus between Burswood Station and the Hotel. This bus runs every 15 minutes in both directions.

Registration Check In

The Conference Registration Desk at the Burswood International Resort will be open as follows:

Wednesday 12th July: 7.30am – 9.30am; 5.00pm – 7.00pm
Thursday 13th July: 7.30am – 6.00pm
Friday 14th July: 7.30am – 4.00pm

Delegates will be given their satchel and a personalised envelope at registration check in. The satchel will contain the Programme book and other materials of use during their time at the conference.
